Apart from the Newspapers Decree No. 43 of 1993 and the National Broadcasting discussed above which, like the Sword of Damocles, hangs over the neck of the print contained in the statute books which threatened media freedom in 1998.
Some like the Nigerian Press Council Decree No. 85 of 1992, the Offensive Publications (Proscription) Decree No. 35 of 1993, the Newspapers Ordinance Act of 1917, the respective states newspapers laws regulating the printing of newspapers in the various states as well as others which have their origin contained in the statute books which threatened media freedom in 1998.
